Wäiski Mural

Wäiski is a ship restaurant in southern Helsinki.

I had an invitation to paint some tropical landscape on one of restaurant's walls. The work was about two days due the very busy schedule of activities of restaurant.

I have made a sketch in freehand, and mapped it with squares grid, about 50 cm each.

The wall before the painting

After coming to site, I have mapped the wall with rope grid:

...and immediately started to draw.

drawing outlines using thick carpenter's pencil

First strokes of acrilic paint are applied.

I have used Rembrandt acrylic mural paint colors for this painting.

Almost finished, second day's afternoon.

Finished. There were no difficulties, exept of lack of time, so some details was abandoned in sake of whole picture readiness to date required.

How a ready mural looks with served table.

Looks excellent. I'm sure this isn't your first one, is it?

Yes, I made a number of murals during 10 past years, some of them are nice, and many of them disappeared already, you know, new wall paint, and so on. Murals are my love though...
